Prom 2019

On the 6th of December, the J2s gathered together to celebrate the end of their 2 years in Eunoia Junior College. Prom 2019, was to ensure that the J2s could look back to their 2 years in EJ and reminiscence of all the good and bad memories they had shared together as a cohort. The theme for Prom 2019 was ‘Winter Wonderland’ . This theme was thought of because the word Wonderland has a deeper meaning of “a place full of wonderful and beautiful things”. We wanted Prom to have the elegancy it deserved yet at the same time have a nostalgic reminiscent of their time the J2s have spent in Eunoia. We thought of a slogan that could particularly capture this objective in essence “The Beautiful Finale to your Beautiful Story” and it was featured in quite a number of our EJBoleh Posts and our Publicity Video.
The most memorable thing about the event would be the location. Prom 2019 was held in the Flower Dome , Flower Field Hall which is located in Gardens by the Bay. Although the location was just simply a hall, Students’ Council worked together as a team to think of ways to adorn the venue to make it even more sophisticated than it already was. The plethora of ceiling lights gleamed throughout the night, adding to the whole ambience and making all the J2s go woOOW.
We wanted this event to be special for the J2s, hence we opened up the stage to seek volunteers to perform. We received a wide array of different types of performances, from singing to dancing to even playing a musical instrument. The entire cohort was pleasantly pleased and entertained throughout the entire night. Additionally, in order to ensure the J2s do not just be spectators of this event we included games and prizes to hype up the crowd. Such games included Lucky Draws; while prizes included Best Dressed and Prom King and Queen.
We ended the night with many lasts. The last time the J2s danced their batch dance. The last time they heard the familiar Assembly Song ‘Go Do by Jonsí’. Lastly, the last time they sang the college anthem together as a whole cohort. It was touching to see all the J2s jump up on their feet to start screaming to Yeah 3x and even more so when they were singing the College Anthem at the top of their lungs, belting out every single word, knowing it was probably their last time singing it with their schoolmates. Overall, it was a very good experience from the start to the end and as the 3rd Student Council, we are glad we were given this opportunity to make meaningful nights for others.
