On the 22nd of November, the J1 cohort participated in an amazing race at the South-Western parts of Singapore, ending on a high at Tanjong Beach, Sentosa. The theme of Euphoria 2019 was “One Last Time”. We chose this theme as it is an event that celebrates the end of the J1 year, and the words also mean that it is the last year we will be at the Ghim Moh campus.

The cohort reported at 10.30am at the Guan Yin Statue in Haw Par Villa. This location was selected to give students a chance to explore a place that they would not normally go to, as well as appreciate the historical significance of the attraction. The day started with a treasure hunt for power-up cards, with representatives from each class to search for these cards in the designated area.

Afterwards, classes were dismissed to start on their Amazing Race. There were 6 locations in total - Tiong Bahru, Outram Park, Queenstown, Telok Blangah, Labrador Park and Harbourfront. Each location had 3 game stations and 3 checkpoints. Each class was allocated 3 MRT locations, where students were given a choice to go to any game station there. Classes also participated in checkpoints, where they gained extra points.

As classes completed their game stations, they began to make their way to Tanjong Beach. There, classes participated in a finale game in clusters, where they build and destroy sandcastles. Students from other classes spent the time playing on the beach or taking photos.

Afterwards, students gathered back in the tentage to watch the performances by The N Band, Gaston and Joly, and Andrea and Dheekshithaa. The emcees Alex and Jiya hyped the crowd up and helped to transition between the performances, keeping the energy level up.

Then, ‘Shut Up and Dance’ was played, signalling the cue for the batch dance. The students quickly found a partner and danced enthusiastically. This was followed by the long-awaited rave segment. Noah Ang, also known as DJ Noah, mixed popular songs on the spot. The entire rave lasted about half an hour, ending the event on a high note.

Finally, we concluded the event with the school cheer, igniting the school spirit. Euphoria 2019 had ended, and we achieved our aim of class and cohort bonding.
