Orientation 2019

Orientation took place from the 7-15 Feb 2019 as we welcomed our new JAE brother and sisters. Having spent a month on our Cardboard Challenge game, our JIP batch had come together to put up a carnival for our new JAE Friends.

Many of us started off the day excited to meet our new OG mates as we wanted to make them as comfortable as possible in their new home. We were very conscious to include them in the many things we did, introducing them to the many memories we had already created together, such as lunch at Ghim Moh market and a lot of the OG games our OGLs had taught us.

There were many exciting activities that brought us together, like that awkward pocky game or blowing flour at each other’s faces. Through this rite of passage that is orientation, we learnt to come together as one EJ.

Time flew quickly and it wasn’t before long before we began to forget our JIP-JAE identities. Frankly speaking, I found it almost impossible to tell who was from JIP or JAE, and not that it mattered anyways. It wasn’t before long we were sorted into our CGs and we became even closer knit, being people of the same passion our subjects.

We also got acquainted with our houses, Akila Eder Isami Ora and Uzuri. Through these 3 odd days, we fought for these houses, as we learnt just how vibrant and strong our EJC houses are.

Orientation ended in a snap, and before we knew it we were raving after an awesome campfire-lit finale. But this wasn’t the end, for it was the beginning of an adventure in the 2 years ahead.
