On the 22nd of May 2019, the third Student Council held a farewell party for the Second Student Council at Botanical Gardens to commemorate the passing of the torch over to the new batch of councillors. 3SC specifically chose this location as a tribute to the arduous Night Walk both batches endured together during council camp - 3SC’s unofficial initiation into Council.
The event began by welcoming 2SC with a captivating performance of their batch dance, in which they enthusiastically joined in thereafter. Subsequently, everyone settled down on makeshift picnic mats, where both batches got the opportunity to bond over various games such as Fear Pong and charades, creating an ambience full of emotions. The council teachers then took this opportunity to crystallize the moment by addressing both batches, acknowledging both the efforts and successes that the 2SC had achieved over their term, as well as wishing the outgoing batch all the best for their future endeavours.
Afterwards, the councillors split into their respective committees to indulge in a gastronomic feast, courtesy of the council teachers, while sharing fond memories, words of encouragement as well as capturing those precious moments through photos.
As the event came to an end, it symbolised the unofficial end of the second Student Council leadership journey in Eunoia Junior College. Correspondingly, it also marked the beginning of 3SC, as this was the first event organised by our newly elected councillors.
Here is what Charlotte (3SC Culture Committee member), the event organiser, had to say about the event:
“Initially, I was intimidated by the prospect of 2SC not enjoying themselves, so my team and I made sure to tailor the whole event with one main goal in mind - to let 2SC have a memorable farewell. As the programme went on, joyous smiles started to appear on both 2SC and 3SC’s faces. Overall, the farewell went better than I expected, given the limited amount of time we had to plan and execute the event. In my opinion, we definitely succeeded in achieving our goal given the positive feedback from 2SC.”
